What Is a Logo?

A logo is defined as a graphic mark, emblem, symbol or stylized name used to identify a business, company, organization, product, or brand.

Nowadays, as a form of personal branding even people like musicians, bands, influencers, motivation speakers and other celebrities have logos.

A great logo is essentially; a great concept and great execution.

Qualities of a Good Logo

Before sending your Logo Design brief it’s prudent to understand the qualities that will make it good to inform your choice.

1. Simple
This is the key to make your logo easily recognizable, versatile and memorable. Keep it simple.

2. Memorable
As a joiner to point one above an effective logo is made memorable by keeping it simple yet appropriate to convey the intended message.

3. Timeless
All great logos stand the test of time. A timeless logo reaps big from brand equity. Brand equity is the value a brand acquires over time, just like an appreciating real estate asset. We create timeless logos by simply avoiding the latest design trends and by keeping it simple without being overly simplistic.

4. Versatile
Effective logos have to work across all media and applications.
It should work on all screen sizes from smartphone, tablets to computers and TV’s. It should be applicable on all sorts of promotional items using all sorts of branding techniques from screen-printing, embroidery, engraving and full colour.

5. Appropriate
Before developing a logo at Design Village. We have to assess the intended audience. For instance a child-like font with multi-colour imagery is ideal for a kindergarten but will look totally ridiculous for a law firm.
